How to store and move a walking pad
Updated
Most flat walking pads are 4 to 6 inches thick, so they slide under a bed, sofa or desk. The hard part is weight: the pads on our list run from 36.5 lb to 73.9 lb. Tip the pad up on its wheel end, roll it, and lay it flat where the maker says it can go.
- Yagud pad36.5 lb
- UREVO Strol 2E Pro44 lb
- WalkingPad A1 Pro63 lb
- Goplus 2 in 169.5 lb
- Sunny Treadpad73.9 lb

How to move it
- Stop, unplug, and pull the safety key if it has one. Wrap the cord so you do not trip on it.
- Find the wheels. Most pads have them on one end. Lift the other end and roll. Bend your knees and keep your back straight.
- Get help for steps and rugs. Pads in the 60 to 75 lb range roll fine on a flat floor but are hard to lift over a rug edge or a step.
- Protect the floor. Small wheels can mark soft wood. A mat or runner helps.
Where to store it
| Machine | Stored size, from the listing |
|---|---|
| WalkingPad A1 Pro | Folds in half to 32.5 x 21.5 x 5 in. Still 63 lb |
| UREVO Strol 2E Pro | 44.9 x 21.9 x 4.2 in, 44 lb |
| Yagud pad | About 4.6 to 5.5 in thick, 36.5 lb |
| Sunny Treadpad | 58.2 x 24.9 x 5.9 in, 73.9 lb |
| Sunny SF-T724011 | Folds upright to 38 x 28.1 x 53.3 in |
- Under a bed or sofa. Measure the gap. Leave an inch so you are not scraping the frame each time.
- Standing on end. Many people ask about storing a pad upright. Only do it if your manual allows it, and brace it so it cannot tip onto a child or pet. A 60 lb slab falling over is a real hazard.
- Under the desk. Fine if you use it daily. Keep the cord out of walkways.
- Not in a cold garage or damp room unless the manual says that is fine.
Kids and pets
The CPSC has recalled treadmills after children, pets and objects were pulled under the rear. A stored pad should not be able to start: unplug it, take out the safety key if it has one, and keep the remote out of reach.
If you pick a pad mainly for how easily it stores, still check your minimum belt length. See our shortlist for full specs.
This is general information, not medical advice. Check with a doctor before you start a new exercise routine, especially if you have a health condition or have not exercised in a while. Keep children and pets away from the moving belt, and use the safety key if your machine has one.
